It is that time of the year where we come together as a community to support our students as they participate in the Prep to Grade 6 Athletics Carnival. This year, the carnival will conclude at lunchtime and students will move back to the Primary campus for afternoon classes.
When: Friday 28 February
Where: Penguin Athletics Track
What to bring: Plenty of water and food, jacket, school hat
What to wear: Appropriate running shoes and students are encouraged to dress in their house colour.
House colours: Blythe Tigers (yellow), Dial Thunder (green), Duncan Sharks (blue), Montgomery Blaze (red).
Families are more than welcome to attend the event – please read and follow the Code of Behaviour for Spectators on the reverse of this letter. Throughout the day, the students are under the school's duty of care - Please ensure that teacher direction is followed and that you are aware of the Code of Behaviour for Spectators on the reverse of this letter.
Students will come to school as normal and move to the athletics track for the duration of the carnival.
9:15 am Rotation around running, jumping and throwing events
10:45 am Recess
11:00 am 100m and relay events
12:30 pm Staff accompany students to the Primary campus for lunch and normal afternoon classes.
General Information
Running Events:
Year 3-6’s: 100m, 200m, 400m, relay
- Students will run in house, gender groups
- Place ribbons for each race & participation ribbon for relay participants
Prep – 2’s: 75m and Relay
- Students will run in house, year level groups
- Place ribbons for 75 m races & participation ribbon for relay participants
Run-offs and NW team selection (Year 3-6)
- Each of the races of 75m, 100m, 200m and 400m (5 & 6 only) will have a dedicated heat in the rotations to try out for the NW team.
- The 800m (Year 3-6) and 1500m (5 & 6’s) will have a lunchtime run-off during the following week.
