Principal's Report
Staying Healthy/Continuing Education in a Pandemic
This week we have been reminded by how quickly that the health and safety of a community can force us back in to lockdown. We can’t stress enough the importance of following the Public Health guidelines so that we can continue to enjoy the relatively uninterrupted arrangements to daily life, that other parts of our country are unable to. Last year was a steep learning curve for all of us as we navigated through learning from home for the first time. Next week, our leadership team will be revisiting our learning from home arrangements, so that we are suitably prepared in the event of a forced lockdown period. We have had a recent confirmed cases of hand, foot and mouth in the school community. This is a reminder to monitor any signs that your child may be unwell and to reinforce the importance of hygiene procedures. This is a notifiable illness and is essential that any confirmed cases are shared with the school administration team as soon as possible.
Parent Feedback – Before School Care
Thank you to the parents that contributed to the School Association survey seeking information about the demand for before school care on site at Penguin. With over 70 respondents in a few days, this simple way of capturing parent voice highlighted that short sharp surveys are an effective way of gaining contributions from the community. This information will be forwarded on to local childcare providers and to the Department of Education’s Early Years & Care Unit.
3-Way Interviews Feedback
This year we adjusted the timing and format of our 3-way interviews (parent teacher meetings) by bringing them forward to the start of term 2. This was due to parents and teachers seeking earlier opportunities to come together to discuss current progress and what steps can be put in place to support continued growth. We would really appreciate if parents could find the time to complete the survey at the link provided. The link will be open until Friday the 4th of June
