Best: Will D, Karmichael, Kobi, Kyle, Bailey, Zac, Lachlan and Logan.

On Wednesday, the 7/8 boys travelled over to Burnie High to take on the no.1 seed in the western side of the NWJFU Final Series. It was a wet, cold and blustery conditions for the start of the game. Burnie won the toss elected to kick with the wind, which proved to be big result, with them leading 15-0 at quarter time. The 2nd quarter started and there was a massive improvement with endeavour and commitment to win the football. Half time scores (BHS 24 – PDS 9). The 3rd quarter was a very seesawing tussle but two late goals to Burnie provided them a lot of momentum and a 26 point lead at the final break (BHS 36 – PDS 10). Finally the last quarter, the boys showed tremendous grit, determination and discipline to fight back and get the margin back to 6 points with less than two minutes remaining. To see the despair on the boys faces at the final siren was heartbreaking and they were devasted to lose. I spoke to the team after the game on how I was extremely proud of their effort and conduct throughout the game. The most pleasing part of the day was their resilience, being down by 26 points at 3/4 time and to fight back like they did. The opposition parents and coaches all commented to me after the game of the way they played & how it good it was a great game to watch.

Just wanted to take this opportunity to thank Matthew Luck for coaching the 9/10 boys this season and all the players for their commitment to the school. Finally, to the parents, guardians and extended families that came along throughout the season to support or help out, it was greatly appreciated.
