Update from the School Association

The School Association Committee met in August and below are some of the key points:

The committee was please to be able to welcome new members.  Committee renewal brings with it fresh eyes and ideas and is vital for a relevant and useful school association committee.  I’d like to thank the people listed below for putting their hand up to be part of our School Association Committee.

    • Narelle Butler (Teacher Rep)
    • Elisha Franks (Parent Rep)
    • Elizabeth Holmes (Parent Rep)
    • Brendan Ivory (Parent Rep)
  • The School Association Committee was very impressed with the Student Board report, both in its presentation and also in the activity of this group
  • The Committee noted and commended Ashley King and the year 9 & 10 students who did very well in the 2019 Science and Engineering Challenge.
  • The Committee reviewed tenders and made a decision for the school uniform contact for 2020-2022 inclusive.  This will be communicated to the school community in due course and represents a great balance between quality and cost.
  • Parent representatives to the committee raised discussion points around the canteen menu, time allowed for primary students to eat their lunches and the Parent Group.  These were discussed, with further discussion to be had at our next Committee meeting on 20 September. If any parent or student has any input they would like to give in these areas, please contact our Secretary, Narelle Butler narelle.butler@education.tas.gov.au, at the Secondary Campus.
  • Finally, it was decided that Elisha Franks be the chair of the PDS Parent Group.  The chair of this group is required to be a member of the school association committee, and Elisha is keen to see this group build and provide great value back to the whole school community. If you would like to be involved with the parent group you can contact Elisha on 0467 892 290.
