UTAS Science Investigation Awards - Primary
Yesterday I had the pleasure of accompanying a group of Year 5/6 students to Marist College in Burnie to participate in the University of Tasmania, Science and Engineering Investigation Awards. All Year 5/6 students had been working busily to prepare and present their science investigation findings in preparation for the awards. The 18 students who presented their investigations had been selected by their class teachers.
Students were interviewed by judges and were required to explain their investigations, predictions and findings. Some our students investigations included: Plant Perfection, Ice Ice Baby, Fizz-tastic Fest, Slimy Situation and Dissolving Desire. George and Hudson investigated the influence of garlic on reducing the spread of germs. Their aptly named investigation, Use Your Head or Germs Might Spread was shortlisted from the many entries on display and will now attend a final in September.
