This week the Minister for Education was on site to announce the second round of community consultation for our consolidated school design. Our staff have been working with the architects from 6ty Degrees on different occasions across the year. Working within the ‘known knowns’ of projected enrolments, the current secondary footprint, managing a finite budget, factoring in a construction timeline and carrying the recommendations from the Community Engagement report - I feel that we have a master plan that is visionary but grounded in research and, importantly, the principles of how we want to learning to occur – and that is as a community.  I encourage you to provide feedback, ask questions and provide some provocations for our Project Working Group through the second round of the community consultation.

2020 Primary Campus Class Models
We can announce that our 2020 classes for the primary campus will be Kinder, Kinder, Kinder, Prep, Prep, Prep/1, Grade 1, Grade 1-2, Grade 1-2, Grade 2, Grade 3-4, Grade 3-4, Grade 3-4, Grade 4-5, Grade 5-6, Grade 5-6, Grade 5-6.

This is to provide equity for students with consistent class sizes and greater capacity to manage any new enrolments across the school year. Having ‘straight’ classes of single year groups throughout the school isn’t feasible as we have cohorts that range in numbers from 40 through to 60. The above models (as for all schools) are subject to change, as we may find an influx of families over the holidays requires a rethink. We will not be considering out of area enrolments for 2020 as a result of the growth in student numbers.

Kinmen Return Visit

Today Ella, Ben, Courtney, Jordan, Mrs Butler and Mr Grining will be leaving for Taiwan to reconnect with the students that visited our school. This will be part of a larger group with 7 other local high schools that took part in the Kinmen Student Exchange. This will be an exciting opportunity for students ‘on both sides’ and is an arrangements that we look forward to continuing in to the future.
