Principal's Report
Welcome back to Penguin District School for the start of Term 3! A special welcome to the students, families and staff that are joining us for the first time. Mrs Sheila Sherriff and Mr Damien Pursell will be returning from leave to the secondary campus and we have Mrs Carla Hubbard returning from interstate to teach grade 3-4. Alex French also returns from a successful teacher placement, and will support the Prep ER program.
Welcome to our new students that have joined us; Daniel, Emma, April, Jack, Miley, Cheree and their families. I am sure that you will find the school community as genuine, friendly and caring as I have. Our pre-kinder programs commence on Monday 5 and Tuesday 6 August and we will see close to 60 of our littlest learners and their parents joining us in preparation for the transition to kinder in 2020.
We have some special visitors joining us this term with nine exchange students from Kinmen County, Taiwan. Kinmen is an island similar in size to Maria Island on Tasmania’s east coast, with a population similar to Launceston. Today it is 30 degrees in Kinmen, so you can imagine that their experience has already been quite a contrast to life in Kinmen. The students are from three different junior high schools and they are all in grade 9.
Thank you to the local families that have kindly opened up their homes for the exchange program;
- Molly D and her family
- Jochi and his family
- Luka & Joseph and family
- Ben L and his family
- Mya & Dylan and family
- Taylor J and family
- Lincon & Angus and family
- Ella and her family
