Outbound Study Tour of Kinmen, Taiwan
On Wednesday October 23, students and teachers from 7 High Schools across the North West coast left Launceston for the Outbound Study Tour of Kinmen, Taiwan. After 30+ long hours of travelling and a very warm welcome from our Kinmen friends, we checked into our hotel for a good night sleep. The next day began a whirlwind tour of Kinmen and a taste of life on the island. Students went to school with their buddies and spent time with their buddy families. Other activities included oyster picking and shucking, visits to historically significant sites (including remnants of the wars fought there), and trying traditional craft. The group experienced new sights, sounds, tastes and smells as the Kinmen people shared their culture and beautiful island home. The final day included a quick stopover in Taipei. Students were able to visit the night markets and spend their money on souvenirs to remember their time in Taiwan.
Students and staff made lasting memories and life-long friendships. Our students (Ben, Courtney, Ella and Jordan) embraced every opportunity and represented our school showing respect and gratitude for the experience. Well done team, what an adventure!
