Principal's Report
Well another week has gone flying by. The end of term seems to be fast approaching, however the learning opportunities and extra curricula experiences our students at PDS experience isn’t slowing. This week has seen Devon/Darwin Launceston sports exchange, 7-10 soccer gala day, our last week of swimming year 3-6, Firefighter Craig on site to talk with K-6, Year 10 Hellyer course counselling, International milkshake day (yes it is a real day) with 100s of student made milkshakes being sold, Mountain Heights v PDS netball exchange, Secondary Assembly, P-2 to Possum Magic theatre performance and in and around all of that… amazing classroom learning experiences.
Our Primary staff have been busily preparing for next week’s optional Communicating Learning with Families – a fantastic opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher and view evidences of their learning. Our Secondary staff have been preparing work samples for the Term 3 Evidence of Learning Envelopes which will go home in week 10. The excitement is building, as thirty two of our year 6 students prepare to head to our national capital for a week of memory making and learning in Canberra Trip.
On Tuesday afternoon, our teaching staff got together to build our professional knowledge and shared understanding of Collaborative Teaching Strategies. As a school we are focusing on the following five evidence based collaborative teaching strategies. Throughout Term 4 our Collaborative Teaching Teams will focus on one of these strategies to implement. Research shows that teachers who work collaboratively have a greater impact on student learning.
