Year 11 and 12 – TASC and VET classes
Our students are currently working hard, knowing that the end of the year is coming up.
Mr Owen and Miss Lutwyche have participated in the TASC Quality Assurance process this week. This ensures that teachers are delivering and assessing their courses in accordance with the course outlines.
Ms Butler, who teaches Career and Life Planning participated in state-wide moderation on September 1st – as did Mr King who teaches Level 3 Mathematics Methods – Foundation to a group of our Year 10 students. The moderation process ensures that our staff are assessing our students equitably when compared with other staff teaching the same subjects elsewhere in Tasmania.
Mr Taylor is finalising the last few remaining assessments for the VET Certificate 2 Sport Coaching class and one of our students in Year 11, Ella Widger, has been completing a Certificate 2 in Community Services. Currently she is doing a work placement with a grade 1 / 2 class on our primary campus. Our VET students should be proud of their achievements in these classes.
Mr Kings Level 3 Mathematics Methods – Foundation class is scheduled to have the final examination for that subject at Hellyer College at 1:30 pm on Monday November 13. Mr King will provide more information ton the families of those students nearer the time. We wish all of them all the best with their results.
The third round of Senior Secondary reports were sent out to families on the 25th August. Please let Mr Maywald know at the school if you have not see your child’s report. He can be emailed robert.maywald@decyp.tas.gov.au
The next report is the 4th and final report for the year. It will contain the student’s overall results and is posted home in December. Students will no doubt be eager to see this report with their final result when it arrives.
The last day for Year 11 and 12 students at Penguin District School is Friday November 3rd. This is in the third week of Term 4, so not far away indeed. Students are encouraged to really work hard up to that time – making sure that all assessments are to the standard of which they are capable.
I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate the senior secondary students that we have had at Penguin District school in 2023. Well done for all the hard work you’ve completed through the year. All the best with your final results. Also, a big thanks to Ms Butler, Miss Lutwyche, Mr Owen, Mr Taylor and Mr King for the work that you’ve done, and continue to do, in your classes. Your students really have appreciated your support and teaching styles.
When considering the Senior Secondary classes to be scheduled for next year, our school leadership is currently considering what will be available for students. When these subjects are known, we’ll advise our school community. This is likely to be early to mid term four.
Again, thanks to everyone for your work in this area – well done students, staff and supporting families.
