Our year 7 cohort have shown a lot of courage so far in 2024, especially through their mini presentations to their English classes. We found a central theme of speaking in front of the class to be Year 7 students’ “courage goal” for this term – they all blitzed it!

We have now moved into our persuasive unit. Here are some students persuading you how to spend your time over this long weekend:

  *   This weekend, you must go swimming! The water is fantastic for swimming, fantastic for surfing and fantastic for snorkelling! Wouldn’t you love to go to the beach with your family and swim in the bright, clear ocean? – Ruby

  *   Do you want to have an awesome weekend? Then I recommend you go camping with your friends! It is a fun, festive, and fabulous experience. You can go riding, swimming and you can basically do anything you want, so that is why you should go camping on the long weekend! - Noah

  *   Everyone must go camping over the long weekend as is will give your mind a break from the busy school day by being in the great outdoors. Camping is shown to increase your creativity as you must think of new way to do things without the comforts of home. With increased oxygen intake, there’s an increase in serotonin levels. Serotonin is a chemical produced by your body that affects the brain, making you feel happier. You’ll get an even bigger boost if you’re camping and bonding with people you love. In conclusion, I believe that it is necessary for everyone to go camping over the long weekend with family and friends. – Maddy
