Book Week
It is getting closer! Only 2 weeks now until, all over Australia, we share and celebrate the Secret Power that is reading. Monday 19 August it all begins! I’ve heard whispers that David Walliam’s characters are feeling ready to share their Secret Powers… I wonder who else will join us in celebrating reading at the Book Week Parade? Remember, parents you are most welcome to join us in the Hall at 9am on Wednesday 21 August to witness this fine event. And it is a DONATION FREE event.
Book Fair will be held during this week again, so come along and support us and Not Just Books in purchasing some books to keep practising that Secret Power at home. The ‘shop’ will be open for buying on Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd before school from 8.20am - 9am; and after school from 3pm-4pm. The last time to buy will be on the Friday morning. EFTPOS will be operating. Please be aware that if you would like to purchase the last book ‘on the shelf’ we will have to order it in for you! Not Just Books are expecting a less than 2 week turnaround from ordering to getting the book into your hands.
In advance, a BIG thank you to Mrs Slater whose vivid imagination and creative skills are ticking in creating an extra special Secret Power display for us all to enjoy again this year! And with all our classes reading the fabulous books that have been shortlisted for this years’ CBCA Awards, and completing learning tasks based on these books, which will be displayed throughout the school on this week… I’m beyond excited! Reading is such a powerful skill to share … isn’t that right, Mrs French!
