LIFT - Early Years Framework
We are so appreciative of all the work families are doing at home to support their children during these uncertain times. We just wanted to remind you of the concepts that guide our teaching in the Early Years at school. This is so that when your child is exploring, playing or discovering at home, you may begin to recognise the important, life-long skills they are developing.
Everyone learns every day, it's just how and what we learn that differs.
The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) has five learning outcomes:
· Children have a strong sense of identity
For example, they know who they are and who they are connected to
At home this might look like wanting to call their grandparents or making cards for family members
· Children are connected with and contribute to their world
For example, they explore and discover the world around them
At home this might look like catching a bug carefully and studying it or playing in the dirt with sticks
· Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
For example, they are healthy and active (mentally and physically)
At home this might look like making a healthy sandwich, jumping on the trampoline or having quiet time
· Children are confident and involved learners
For example, they are interested in finding out and keen to have a go
At home this might look like building a box work robot and then wanting to know how robots move
· Children are effective communicators
For example, they can get their message across in many different ways
At home this might look like putting on a puppet show or adding writing to their drawing
