Kinmen Exchange Students
On Thursday we farwelled our Kinmen visitors. On their last day at Penguin District School, Ulverstone Secondary College students and their Kinmen students joined us to learn about the traditions and culture of the Tasmanian Indigenous people. Dave Gough, a Tasmanian Aboriginal man, spent time with the group talking about his connection to country and showed some Aboriginal artefacts. Students learnt about how families lived together and the tools they used to build shelters.
This exchange program is a brilliant initiative supported by the Kinmen County - Taiwan and the Tasmanian Education Departments. This has been a fabulous experience for our school community to be involved in and we look forward to 4 of our Year 9 students travelling to Kinmen County in October.
