Principal's Report

Grining_Mat_.jpg

Today marks the end of Term 3, unbelievably the first ‘full term’ of on-site teaching and learning for 2020. I am immensely proud of how our students and staff have approached any challenge that we have been faced with across the first three terms, knowing that we have the full support of our parent community has also made this so much easier. Term 4 will present some new challenges for us on a number of fronts, as we adapt to COVID requirements for school productions and excursions, working with our lead contractors from Vos and how we provide some fitting experiences and celebrations for the students and community to mark the end of a big year. What we will prioritise above all with our decision making will be our school expectation of being safe, as we discussed in assemblies this week. On behalf of the staff at Penguin District School, I’d like to thank you for your support this term, and look forward to working closely with the community for the remainder of the year.

Important Information re: Start of Term 4

Please understand that there will be increased vehicle and machinery activity on Ironcliffe Road during Term 4. We have some appropriate plans in place that we believe will allow for the safe movement of students, community members and vehicles, providing that our school community is following the signage and road rules during this time.

Key points include:

  • No access to the public to the fenced area (marked in red)
  • Vos Constructions site office is adjacent to the current secondary campus car park (marked in orange)
  • Ironcliffe Road access to the secondary campus will be closed, vehicles must enter via a new access road (marked in yellow) from Dial Park on to the current netball courts
  • Pedestrian access to the secondary campus will be across the grassed area between both campuses or via the Dial Park access road to the temporary Secondary Campus office (marked in blue)
  • Central Coast Council will open the boom gate behind Dial Park on to Recreation Drive
  • Secondary students who catch the bus will be picked up/dropped off at the primary campus bus bay
