End of Year Celebrations and Assemblies

We always look forward to term 4 bringing opportunities for us to come together, share and celebrate our school community’s achievements across the year. Public Health requirements will mean that we are unable to come together in a way that we normally would do, but we won’t let that stop us from doing our best to connect with, share and celebrate a year we should be proud of. As a school leadership team, we are confident that we can still provide end of year celebration assemblies, year 10 assemblies and celebration dinners for our grade 6 and 10’s. This can only happen if our community continue to support us with adjusted expectations in-line with the COVID safe steps that we are required to adhere to. An immediate challenge is that we mustn’t exceed venue density regulations.

At this stage we anticipate that we will have a Kinder celebration in the park, prep-2 assembly, grade 3-6 assembly, grade 7-12 assembly and year 10 celebration assembly. We will be finalising our plans for each of these events in the coming weeks and providing advice to our community as soon as each of these are confirmed as to how you can engage with us.

Staffing Update

I’m pleased to announce that from the beginning of 2021, Emma Eustace will be joining us from Forth Primary and Elisse Gardam from West Ulverstone Primary. The quality teaching model professional learning that the Central Coast Cluster of schools have been focussing on over the past three years means that Emma and Elisse are both well placed to join our teaching team at Penguin. This week marked our final meeting for the year at Ulverstone Primary, as a cluster of schools collaborating together. Year 9 student Braith was joined by Aboriginal Education Officer Guy Grey to provide a Welcome to Country. Guy also spoke about the significance of the upcoming NAIDOC Week and the symbolism of the phrase ‘Always was, Always will be’ as we met on lutruwita, Aboriginal land of the Palawa.

Capital Works Update

It is remarkable to think that we are only 6 weeks in to our school redevelopment! Year 9 student, Tyler, has been tasked with taking a series of timelapse images and monthly drone flyovers to share a different perspective of the work as it starts to take shape over the next 18 months.
