Principal's Report
What a Busy Start!
I’d like to acknowledge the time, effort and energy that has gone in to a number of school events over the first 3 weeks. Often many of us are unaware of the depth of planning, preparation and risk assessments that go in to providing exciting and engaging events for our students. Year 7 & 8 team building, early childhood swimming, primary athletics, secondary surf carnivals, , inducting new students for our Cert II in Sport & Recreation, as well as trying to establish school teams for cricket, netta and netball. I feel fortunate to that we have such a passionate team that are willing to go ‘above and beyond’ in the way we engage young people at school.
We could not have booked in a better day of weather for our primary athletics carnival today! It was fortunate that we changed the structure for this year by splitting the day in half with Prep-Year 2 and Years 3-6, as I’m sure that regardless of the amount of shade, water and sunscreen that it would have been a challenging day in the heat. A big thank you to all staff, especially Mrs Van Essen and Miss Goninon and her Year 9-10 Sport Leadership students that provided terrific assistance during the day. We look forward to a report in next week’s newsletter.
Capital Works Update
Next Friday we will officially take over the first part of our completed redevelopment. This will include the administration block and food & fibre technology teaching areas. We will continue to operate our administration from the temporary office at the secondary campus until the end of term, until when the perimeter fencing is moved and the new library is also handed over to the school ready for use. Thank you to year 6 student Walter and year 9 student Tyler that are our ‘eyes in the sky’ with some spectacular drone photography.

Security in and Around the School
We love seeing families access our school grounds outside of school hours. Some of the most creative and engaging playing and sports spaces can be found in local schools. Encouraging people to use our school facilities also provides some of the best security and protection for our school. I encourage families to bring their bikes, scooters etc to the school after hours in the knowledge that the school should be a safe place in the community to enjoy time with friends and family. Further to this, there is now additional CCTV cameras around the perimeter of the school, including the primary campus turning circle, to help us in the event of an matters that require review or follow up.
