Many parents and students have been asking about the commencement of the School Soccer roster. The information from Ulverstone Soccer Club is that the roster will begin after Easter. There is an opportunity for students to participate in the Red Hot Skills program beginning Monday 22 February. This is an 8-week program being conducted by Saul Canales, a Senior Coach of the club and will be a great program for all of our Penguin students – beginners or experienced. If there are any parents who are interested in learning a bit more about soccer, the Ulverstone Soccer Club will be holding a Coach’s course with Football Federation. This is an awesome opportunity for the Penguin District School community. Not only will we be a very enthusiastic group of adults supporting the children, we can even know what we are doing! Please let me know if you are interested in joining me at the course – it will be free of charge but will help the children out immensely!

Lastly, we are currently organising a ‘registration day’ for students and parents to come along to after school one evening. This will be supported by the Ulverstone Soccer Club who will provide a skills session for all interested students. Keep an eye on the newsletter in the coming weeks for more information.
