Working in a school is immensely rewarding work, irrespective of the role that you have. Often in the eyes of the public, our support staff may not receive the same level of recognition or gratitude as teaching staff, as teachers are often the staff that are the first point of contact with families. Our library and lab technicians, social work, school psychologist, chaplains, IT support staff, speech and language pathologists, education facility attendants, canteen staff, administration team and teacher assistants are all deeply committed to working in a way that improves the outcomes for every young person in our school community. The work of each individual across these teams makes a significant difference in our ability to provide a safe and welcoming learning environment each and every day so that children can thrive. I’d like to publically thank these teams for their ongoing commitment to the work in our school.
Today we have thanked and farewelled some long standing members of our school support team. Ben Keeley, Leanne Ray and Sally Smith have all provided tremendous care and support in their work as teacher assistants in our school across many years. This term, their time has come to an end with all three staff members heading in to different directions. Ben has moved in to an exciting area of connecting people with employment and training from January, Leanne has retired formally from the department of education to enjoy time with her family (although has already been a regular relief assistant!) and Sally finishes today at Penguin to explore a role at East Ulverstone Primary that capitalises on her current university training. Whilst all three would have a variety of memorable moments and connections with students and staff that would have left them feeling a sense of fulfillment, a comment from a young child today ‘Thanks for everything, just remember that you’re beautiful’ captures gratitude in such a childlike and innocent way.

With the end of the Term approaching, it would be most appreciated if outstanding levies could be finalised by Thursday April 14.
If you have not entered into a payment plan please call our SBM (Max Brown) next week to arrange this.
Thank you!
Our school received an email from hospital staff at the Burnie Hospital asking for art work to brighten up the lives of the many children who will be spending their Easter holiday in the paediatric ward.
Kinder H have sent in their spectacular sunflowers to be displayed. Well done Kinders on your wonderful drawings.
Year 1/2 Paterson completed their class’s turn working in the garden this term, with a celebration by cooking pizza and enjoying it outside. Pizzas were made using tomatoes and herbs from the garden and they were delicious. Many were keen to also take a slice home to share.
Thank you grade 1 /2 for your great work in the garden.
Early Childhood Swimming Program
From May 9 – 13 all students in Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 will be participating in their Early Childhood Water Orientation Program at the Ulverstone Swimming Pool. This is an extremely important program for all students to attend which enables them to develop their confidence in an aquatic environment. To ensure that all students can participate in this program, could all families please ensure they are returning the Major Excursion Consent Form and Medical Form before the end of Term 1. If these forms are not returned, your child will not be able to attend the program.
Unfortunately, due to COVID requirements, Parents/Guardians are not able to attend these sessions. However, class teachers will be taking lots of pictures to ensure you can see what learning is taking place at the Swimming pool.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me via email at Christopher.de.ruyte@education.tas.gov.au
or through the School Office on (03) 6434 2222.
