Term 4 is an absolutely magic time in schools and just like the first week of the school year, it is full of range of feelings. We will have our Kinders stepping with excitement into the big yard for the first time, the nerves of going through final rehearsals for our school production of ‘The Phantom of the Talent Factor,’ through to our Grade 10s undertaking exams and taking the next step in their journey towards Grade 11, understandably with mixed emotions. I’d like to welcome back all of our staff, students and their families, and a special welcome to our new enrolments and families that are joining us at Penguin District School for the final term of the school year.
Farewells and Thankyous
Allison Kable will be concluding her time with us as a member of our administration team. Allison has picked up a variety of roles and responsibilities, most recently mentoring our grade 10 students in developing the school magazine. We’ve appreciated Allison’s contributions to our school community and know that she will be an asset in commencing her new role in the coming weeks.
Caitlyn Logan has been a part of our ICT support team over the past 4 years. During this time Caitlyn has completed a number of qualifications and has always been exceptionally supportive and positive in taking on any new challenges, particularly during the busy period at the end of last term! Caitlyn has accepted a position remaining in the IT industry with a local employer where we wish her well in her new role.
Congratulations

We are excited to finally be opening the Play Pod in our playground on Monday 19 October. Today, Mrs Radcliff ran sessions with our classes on what items are inside and what play with these items may look like. The Play Pod provides an opportunity for open ended play which is easily accessed by all ages. It offers itself to skill development such as cooperation, negotiation, collaboration and problem solving to name a few.
A huge thank you to everyone who was able to donate items for us to explore. We can't wait to see how the play develops in this space.
Tennis tournament
Connor, Jaxx and I held a lunchtime Tennis Tournament for the Year 5 and 6 students. We thought it would be a fun way to keep people active and play an amazing sport.
On Monday and Tuesday lunchtimes we would rally up 4 teams to play in doubles games. The winner of each game would move onto the next round and play against other winners until there was only one team remaining.
Mason and Logan came out on top as the champions of the tournament narrowly defeating Bailey and Roman in the Grand Final.
Thankyou to all the students who came and played in our tournament and we are now planning our next active lunchtime activity.

Production at the Leven Theatre
Next week all students involved in the production will be working in the Ulverstone Theatre each day and students will not be required at school to attend classes. Students do not need to attend school at all on these days and are encouraged to go straight to the theatre in casual clothes.
Students are expected to be at the Ulverstone Theatre each day by 8:45am ready for either rehearsals or matinee performances and will be ready to leave the theatre at 3pm.
Students are expected to bring food and drinks for the days at the theatre. There may not be long breaks to eat, so food that is easy to eat and healthy snacks would be ideal. If you wish your child to access shops in Ulverstone for food we will try to work around this, but they will require a note to show permission from home to leave the theatre to buy food as there will be no direct supervision while they are away from the theatre. We expect appropriate behaviour from students at all times over these two weeks.
