9/10 Outdoor Education – Overnight Camp
Dear Families
As part of Outdoor Education, students have the opportunity to complete an overnight camp in the Rocky Cape National Park area. They will complete bushwalking, fishing and kayaking activities in the area, staying overnight in tents/swags at Black River Camping area. Our qualified staff will deliver all activities.
Students will self-cater and cook using PDS camping stoves and equipment. Black River camping area is managed by Parks and Wildlife and has a number of suitable group camping sites. Facilities are limited with composting toilets and no running water.
See below for food suggestions. Extra group water will be provided.
Proposed Itinerary
Day 1 Wednesday 29 October – Bushwalk/Fishing – Rocky Cape to Cathedral Rocks return in the Rocky Cape NP. Overnight at Black River camping area. Fishing at camping area.
Day 2 Thursday 30 October – Fishing and kayaking in Black River adjacent to camping area.
Activities and days may be swapped around depending on weather conditions and tides.
Back-up and unsafe weather options include – Visiting Dip Falls and Big Tree area on Day 2 instead of kayaking. Any of these changes will be communicated closer to the camp dates.

What to bring:

Clothing |
Warm clothing for campsite – 1x long pants 1x warm jumper/jacket, shorts/leggings for bushwalk, 2x socks and underwear |

Phones: As per DECYP policy phones will be off and away all day during the camp. They may be used in the evening for a short period of time but will not be able to be used inside tents/swags at all.
Please return the Major Excursion and Aquatic Consent Form attached to provide consent for your child to participate in these activities.
