Athlete Development Program (ADP)
Penguin District School offers an Athlete Development Program (ADP) for students in Year 7-10. It is one of our Applied Learning subjects.
ADP was established in 2019 to give students an opportunity to further pursue their passion for sport during the school day. We have access to a high-quality weights gym facility that is complimented by two basketball stadiums, Dial Park, and the Penguin Athletics Track.
Interested students should:
- Be current participants in sport(s).
- Have a desire to train during school time (strength and conditioning).
- Maintain good work habits in all other classes.
ADP lessons aim to:
- Develop technique when performing strength exercises.
- Increase understanding of different strength and conditioning exercises.
- Incorporate elements of mobility, speed & agility, recovery, and yoga.
Additional information:
- There are optional items available for purchase – shorts and tee ($35 each) and gym towel ($30).
- The Year 7/8 class is one double lesson per week (100min) and the Year 9/10 class is one double and one single lesson per week (150min).
- A yearly application process is administered to establish the class group.
