Nature/Community Kinder A 2025

For the remainder of the year, part of our Tuesday Kinder days (and occasional Thursday) will be spent exploring the beautiful natural spaces in our local community – especially the beach and the bush. These local adventures will give children the chance to walk, talk, observe, create, inquire and play in rich and engaging environment right on our doorstep.

Why are we doing this?

Spending time in nature and in our local community helps children develop a sense of social responsibility and respect for the environment. It also nurtures a feeling of belonging and comfort in these spaces, encouraging curiosity, confidence and connection with the world around them.

Times:                         We will leave school at approximately 10:40 am and return to school at around 12:40 pm. We will eat recess before we leave school and eat lunch when we return to school.

Days:                            Nature/Community Kinder will be held fortnightly on Tuesdays (weather dependent). You will be informed of any changes to this on Seesaw.

What to Bring:             Appropriate shoes (runners or gumboots), water bottle and jacket / raincoat. Hats and sunscreen (school provided unless you wish to use your own) will also be required.

Communication:          As part of the enrolment process you have given consent for your child to participate in excursions.  If you wish to change your child’s current permissions or would like further information, please contact the school by phone or email. If we do not hear from you then the current permission arrangements will remain in place. Please advise the office of any changes to medical details.

Classroom Help:          If you’d like to come along and support our local adventures, we’d love to have you! To volunteer, you’ll need a Working with Vulnerable Persons card and your Safeguarding Training (a 14-minute video). Please visit the school office for help with how to apply.

Volunteering is a wonderful way to share in the children’s experiences and be part of the fun. Whether you’re available once or more often, please feel free to contact me in person or via Seesaw if you’re interested.

Adult helpers will need to sign in at the school office before 10:40 am so we can head off together. Depending on numbers, there may be space on the bus – otherwise, you’re welcome to meet us at the location using your own transport.

Please note, we will not be entering any water during our walks.

For more information or to volunteer your time on one of our walks, please contact me via Seesaw, via email mel.atkins1@decyp.tas.gov.au or in person.
