Sea Country (Year 5 Students)
Dear Families
Sea Country Excursion
On Thursday 27 November, Year 5 students are going on an excursion to Sisters Beach. This educational day is designed for students to experience, understand, and respect Sea Country. They will understand that Tasmanian Aboriginal people have significant cultural responsibilities to care for Sea Country.
These learning experiences will follow classroom work undertaken in HASS. We are also fortunate to be supported on the day by Brodie Deverell who is the Aboriginal Education Worker in our school.
We aim to depart school at 9:00 am and arrive back at school before 2:50 pm. Students are required to bring a packed lunch box with enough food for recess and lunch. They will also need a refillable drink bottle. Full-school uniform including a school hat, and appropriate shoes for walking in are essential. As this is an outdoor excursion, we ask that your child is prepared for any changes in weather conditions. Please ensure your child has their school jacket and a waterproof coat.
We are very excited to be able to offer this valuable learning experience to our students away from the classroom. Please return the attached Major Excursion Consent and Medical Information Form to your child’s teacher by Friday 20 November.
