One of the best things about PDS is the fact that we are a district school – from Birth to Year 12. It excites me when I see and hear of the collaboration which happens across the different sectors of the school. When we have secondary students helping to run the Primary Athletics Carnival, or senior secondary students running the Breakfast Club, or when we have the Primary Student Board working with the Secondary Student Board to discuss issues which impact our school. There are so many examples of all the sectors of PDS - Early Childhood, Primary, Secondary and Senior Secondary – working together. One of the biggest highlights of collaboration this term would have to be the Penguin Christmas Parade float. It was so great to see primary and secondary students working side-by-side to create, paint and decorate the props for the float. But the collaboration wasn’t just between the students. Collaboration extended to the staff across the school who contributed to the vision and creation of the float and supervision on the night. There is a good reason that the motto for PDS is Together: we Aspire, we Strive, we Achieve. And did we achieve? YES - Penguin District School took out the best decorated float for 2023. Congratulations to all involved – what an amazing team effort.
As a father of four busy boys, as things ‘slow down’ for the end of the year – it actually feels like life gets busier. Please continue to look out for each other, enjoy the change in the weather and embrace the craziness of the Christmas season. With only a few weeks of learning to go I encourage everyone – staff, students and the parent community – to continue to finish the year well.

Thank you to each and every family that made it to our Launching into Learning sessions across 2023. We had fun playing, laughing, singing, creating, dancing, running, jumping and making new connections. We celebrated with a Christmas party this afternoon as we wrap up for another year.
We can't wait to see you all back in 2024. Please keep an eye on our socials for the next year's timetable.
Have a happy and safe holidays.
